Logo & Header Configuration

Quickstart's site branding features allow site administrators to place your unit's official UArizona logos in the header and footer of the site. There is also a text-only option for those sites that do not have an official logo.

See the UArizona Brand Logo guidelines.

Adding Logo to Header

Your unit's official web header logo should be added to site theme. Site Administrator's can add this under Appearance settings.

  1. Select Appearance in the top toolbar.
  2. Go to the Settings for Arizona Barrio.
  3. Expand the Logo Image section.
  4. Uncheck the box for "Use the logo supplied by the theme."
  5. Click on Choose File under Upload logo image (preferred format is SVG).
  6. Customize the logo alt text or title text if needed.

Using a Text-Only Header

If your site does not have an official University of Arizona logo, you can use the text-only option of your site name.

  1. Go to Structure > Block Layout.
  2. Select Configure next to Site Branding.
  3. Uncheck the box next to Site logo.
  4. Check the box next to Site name.

Note: Do not use both the site logo and site name option at the same time as this is not consistent with brand guidelines.

Editing Your Site Name

The site name is used as part of page title used in browser tabs and external search results and also when using the text-only header option. Content administrators can edit the site name by:

  1. Go to Configuration > Basic Site Settings (or https://<mysite>/admin/config/system/site-information)
  2. Edit the information in the Site name field.
  3. Save configuration.

Adding Logo to Footer

By default the header logo image is repeated in the footer. Site Administrators can specify a different image (e.g. your home department's or college's logo) under Appearance settings.

  1. Select Appearance in the top toolbar.
  2. Go to the Settings for Arizona Barrio.
  3. Expand the Footer Logo Image section.
  4. Uncheck the box for "Use the default logo."
  5. Click on Choose File under Upload footer logo image.
  6. Customize the logo alt text or title text if needed.

Note: There is no text-only option for the footer logo. If your unit does not have an official logo lockup, you should use your department, college, or the University of Arizona Logo.

There are some centers that are based at The University of Arizona, but span multiple universities and have a need to establish their brand identity as connected to The University of Arizona, but not as part of the university.

The following changes can be made for this use case:

  • Disabling the institutional wordmark (The University of Arizona) in the top header.
  • Disabling the Land Acknowledgement in the footer
  • Adding a custom logo to the header.

The University brand has a wider color palette than just red and blue! Using the highlight, neutral and secondary color palettes in page elements can really change the look and feel of your website without needing to customize your theme.

Some parts can not be changed:

  • Removing or changing the color of the red bar at the top of the page
  • Removing or changing the color of the footer
  • Removing the links to the security and privacy policy
  • Removing the copyright notice on behalf of the Arizona Board of Regents
